I've Been Converted.

I’ve long decried the Xbox as a system that’s all style and no substance. I’ve railed against it many a time, preferring the vast library of entertaining PS2 games to the Xbox’s handful of stellar-looking hits. I’ve shrugged off people’s attempts to sell me on it (sorry Bane), and refused to be reasonable and try it out.
Well….I bought one.
Your first reaction as a gamer is: “WTF ARE YOU DOING BUYING AN XBOX WHEN THE 360 IS ALREADY OUT?”
My answer? I don’t feel like dropping a grand on a system that only has a few games that don’t even interest me. The next-generation console hype has never really grabbed me by the short-and-curlies, mainly because there’s always a lot of kinks to work out and I like to wait until the system has amassed a good selection of titles. Hell, I didn’t even get my PS2 until three years after it had come out, and it was a gift.
Second reaction is probably: “WTF ARE YOU DOING BUYING AN XBOX WHEN YOU CAN UPGRADE YOUR COMPUTER WITH THE L337 STUFFS AND PLAY THE SAME GAMES” (hi Pos)
My answer: I can’t afford to buy everything that my computer needs to run those sorts of games. I’d much rather spend $150 on a console and two games as opposed to $400+ for computer parts that I don’t even know how to install. :/
Third reaction? “ WTF ARE YOU DOING BUYING AN XBOX WHEN MICROSOFT’S FOR FAGGS”
My answer: Shut up, go play Half-Life 2 and Doom 3 on the ‘box and then come back and tell me that Microsoft sucks.
All Q&A sessions aside, I’m really digging it. It was worth the money that I threw at it (for that and two games, yay trade-ins at EBGames), and I’ve only played three games on it so far. I kinda feel like an idiot for ignoring it the entire time, but them’s the breaks. I still love my PS2, but I’ve come to grips with the fact that the Xbox doesn’t suck as much as I thought it did.
Bill Gates, the Xbox devteam….Microsoft? I love you guys (when you’re not punish-fucking my computer with unnecessary updates and tailoring Windows Media Player to resemble Skynet from the Terminator series), and I’m sorry for being an asshole. I never meant to treat you that way.
