Jumping the Gun

BRADENTON, Fla. -- The father who got national attention for punching a teacher's assistant in front of class full of students has sued the school district.

Dave Swafford was charged after marching into a classroom at Lakewood Ranch High School east of Bradenton last month and punching the assistant, whom he had accused of inappropriately touching his foster daughter, a student at the school.

Later school officials said the girl's claims were fabricated, and the sheriff's office declined to file charges against the assistant. They said evidence, including security camera video, proved her story false.

What a stunning surprise. The girl’s allegations were proved to be completely wrong, the father flew off the handle, and now he’s acting like he’s the victim despite his daughter’s bullshit story which ended with an innocent man being injured.

Dave Swafford, you’re an idiot. Your irrational actions after your daughter’s lies proved that. You could have just eaten a slice of humble pie, let it go, and you would have gone down in history as the irate dad who socked an innocent guy over a child’s lies, but no. You had to take it one step farther and dive back into the jackass end of the gene pool to portray yourself as an innocent victim at the wily grasps of a public school system gone awry.

Give me a fucking break.

And instead of doing the right thing, treating it like something serious, and taking your ire to the principal or to the administrators, you figured you’d cut through all the red tape and just walk in and punch the man, rather than to successfully get an accused child molester in the spotlight and preferably fired and imprisoned provided that your daughter’s accusations had legs.

Riiight.

The more I hear about this story, the more incensed I get at the father’s complete lack of rationale when it comes to the possibility of his daughter being victimized. Instead of doing the smart thing and going about it in a manner which could have led to a proper punishment, he decided to settle it old-school style like a fucking caveman. And if his daughter had in fact been molested/raped/whatever, a punch in the face would have been inconsequential as far as getting true vengeance on the guy. Provided that the man did in fact molest the girl, he deserved to be punished appropriately to the full extent of the law.

To be fair, let’s stop and compare the two. On one hand, you have a punch to the face. Simple, quick, hurts for a while, but you get over it. On the other hand, you have an investigation, a scrutinizing trial process, and in the case of a conviction, prison. Which would be more effective in the long run: a single punch to the noggin, or being outed as the preteen-groping pervert that you are and tossed in the pokey?

I’m going to go ahead and slice off a couple of Hydra heads before they pop up. I’ve never been a victim of sexual assault, so I can’t claim to know how it feels, etc. But common sense tells me that a punch to the face is nothing compared to a legal process and a prison sentence. If I were a victim of said crime, I’d want the person to be tried in a court of law for their misdeeds against me.

Child molesters are the lowest form of scum on this earth, only slightly lower than rapists because their victims will be scarred for the rest of their lives by the tragic events that befall them thanks to some sick fuck who just wants to get his rocks off with a young child or a baby. I still firmly adhere to the belief that these people deserve the worst treatment possible. So when it comes down to a decision between simply punching one in the face or sending them through an arduous trial process and an eventual imprisonment, you can bet your ass that I’ll choose the latter every time, because the two don’t even compare.

David Swafford’s actions in the wake of his daughter’s accusations not only display his total lack of self-control and rationale, but they also display an ingrained lack of concern for true justice in the light of the possibility that his daughter was victimized by an adult.

To treat him like he did a sensible thing would be to discount the number of child molesters that have been placed behind bars (and to the death penalty if you want to open that Pandora’s box), the sheer number of victims whose rapists still walk free on the streets, and the innocent who have been wrongfully accused of such transgressions upon another human being.

Bravo!! I couldn't have expressed it better. Swafford is a loose cannon and the epitomy of a redneck.
