Political Breakdown?
Meltdown.
That's the only word I can think of to describe what the GOP has apparently been going through for the past month or so. It all started with the disgustingly clumsy clusterfuck that will go down in history as the massive fumble of post-Katrina relief. It got a bit more steam with DeLay getting called to the stands for charges that may soon involve his successor Roy Blunt, gained momentum when Frist was nabbed for an SEC investigation for insider trading , and then the poorly received plan for spending cuts for hurricane relief that essentially split the Republican party.
Add into the mix the Fitzgerald investigation regarding the leaking of Valerie Plame's identity that seems to be pointing in the direction of Scooter Libby and Karl Rove, throw in the procurement official arrested for obstructing a criminal investigation , and sprinkle that with a liberal (tee hee) dose of the conservative wingnuts' ire over the appointment of Harriet Miers, and you have one hell of a list of corruption, cockblockery, and general disarray, all pointing to the current administration.
Look at all that. Seriously. Doesn't that make you ashamed to be associated with anything remotely involving these opportunistic assholes? Yet, many people wasted no time in hoisting these shit-eating fucks onto their shoulders and championing them as good and honest Americans, despite the fact that they have the moral integrity of a crack addict.
To be entirely fair, it makes Clinton's blowjob incident look about as significant as a fart in a tornado.
Under the guise of morality and an unhealthy dose of fear, the American people have allowed a collective of glorified thieves and liars into the White House. Yeah, I know politicians are crooks. I've heard that phrase many times before, and I believe it. But this degree of thievery is uncalled for, and yet people still make excuses for these assholes. They throw all they can (which isn't much) at the opposition and somehow find a way to justify their stance amid all the bullshit and crooked behavior. And that's what I fail to understand. I've heard right-wingers harp on and on about being godly, moral, understanding, compassionate, and yet their idols and figureheads are nothing more than high-scale candy thieves who can't keep their fucking hands out of the jar.
I'd love to say that the tide is truly turning. And ideally, it is. But what bothers me is that the fingers of many of these officials are in so many pies, that it makes me genuinely worried that those who have reaped the benefits from friends in high places will go to great lengths to support them, come hell or high water.
Another part of me has complete faith in the human desire to cover your own ass. I'd love to see all their supporters cut bait and start pulling damage control, spouting bullshit like "Well, I didn't REALLY like Tom DeLay, it was just...you know...he had a jet, dude. A jet! And then they'd clumsily high-five each other and cut another 10,000 blue-collar employees from their workforce.
And like it or not? This all culminates at the top. Your beloved George W. Bush. After all, a man is known by the company he keeps, and I highly doubt that Bush wanted to inherit too many Democratic cabinet members. He wanted to build a force of supposedly hard-hitting, strong-jawed, blue-blooded die-hard Republicans, and instead, he built a force of lying, backstabbing, incompetent thugs who can't even bilk a corporation out of money without tripping over their own dicks.
My point is, though, I still don't understand what drives people to support these morally bankrupt cocksuckers despite all of the scandal surrounding them. The right-wingers can point to Clinton and hem and haw all they want to, but Clinton's misdeeds aren't even a stain (chortle) on the laundry list of abject fuck-uppery facing the GOP at this moment. The shamelessly corrupt shitbirds are coming home to roost, baby, and some of you just stepped aside and let them in the door. That right there should invalidate any pissing and moaning on your part, saying "Oh, we were taken advantage of! We didn't KNOW!" Because that's bullshit.
The rampant cronyism and pay-offs have been yanked from the dark and thrust into the public eye, like a rotting piece of maggot-ridden meat (similar to many of the current administration members' hearts, ironically enough), and the kid gloves are off. Their own supporters are turning against them. The American people have been duped. And for those of us who fought these fuckers from the beginning, even throughout the mass tragedy-turned-jingoistic-political-endeavor known as 9/11 (remember the 9/11 Walk For Freedom? Yeah. Way to exploit a disaster for your own grandstanding bullshit act), this is our turn to point the fingers and depict the right as the true assholes who are undermining America's standing in the free world, just like you all so mercilessly did to anyone who opposed your doctrine of xenophobia and blind nationalism.
So what's your excuse now?
